Antminer S9 Chain J8 has 0 asic - S9 Kernel Log

When we encounter the same problem on different miner models, such as Chain [J8] has 0 asic, do you know how to troubleshoot and solve this fault?  This article will give you a few ways to troubleshoot this.

Troubleshooting:

1. Swap the data cable of the Antminer S9 hash board showing "Chain [J8] has 0 asic" with the data cables of the other two normal hash boards (only the side of the hash board is exchanged); first, exclude the data cable and the Antminer S9 control board problem.

2. Check whether the total voltage domain of the S9 hash board is normal. If it is abnormal, you need to use a fluke 15b+ multimeter to check whether the voltage of the PIC, MOS tube, and boost circuit is abnormal.

3. To measure whether the RI signal is normal, you can first find a group of RI signals on the edge of the domain from the middle domain for detection. Then, if it is normal, we will check it forward, and if it is abnormal, we will check backward (the transmission direction of the RI signal is from the last chip to the first chip).

4. In addition, check whether the voltage of the chip RI signal and the ground value are abnormal. If there is any abnormality, most of them are caused by chip pseudo soldering, and it is recommended to re-solder twice; if the fault still cannot be solved, replace the faulty BM1387 chip.

RI signal voltage detection method: adjust the fluke 15b+ multimeter to the DC gear, and place the red and black test pens on the heat sink and RI of the same domain respectively. Whether the measured RI voltage value is abnormal can be compared with the RI resistance value of other chips in the same domain.

RI signal ground value detection method: adjust the fluke 15b+ multimeter to the diode gear, the red test pen is placed on the heat sink in the same domain, and the black test pen is detected. Whether the measured RI to ground value is abnormal can be compared with the resistance values of other chips in the same domain.
