Failures in the network, component, PSU and the environment can render hydro inoperable. By observing the indicator lights, running status and kernel logs, you can determine why Hydro is not running and the hash rate is low (or 0). This article aims to help you figure out the main fault phenomena and causes of hydro generation, and propose solutions. It can help you troubleshoot independently, improve repair efficiency, take measures to avoid failures and ensure the normal operation of hydro. Here are 4 ways to solve hydro problems:
Ⅰ. Check the ETH port light, fault indicator light, and normal indicator light
First, observe the status of the ETH port light, fault indicator light and preliminarily judge the fault of the hydro.
ETH port (Yellow) | long light | extinguish | Fault light (Red) | extinguish | flash | extinguish | long light |
ETH port (Green) | flash | extinguish | Normal light (Green) | flash | extinguish | long light | extinguish |
Working conditions | Normal | Fault 1 | Working conditions | Normal | Fault 2 | Fault 3 | Fault 4 |
Fault 1
1. The network cable may not be plugged in properly:
Reconnect the network cable.
2. The network cable may be damaged:
Replace the network cable.
3. The switch is not powered on:
Turn on the switch.
4. The switch is damaged:
Replace the switch.
Fault 2
Hydro is in a high temperature state:
After the miner is powered on, check whether the interface valve is open and whether the water temperature is normal.
Fault 3
Crash unable to obtain IP:
Restart-Reset, if still unable to get the IP, the control board is faulty.
Fault 4
1. Incorrect IP or IP conflict: Change the IP.
2. Network setting error:
If the IP can be obtained, modify it directly in the background. If the IP cannot be obtained, modify it in the background after reset.
3. All the information of the three mining pools is wrong:
Check whether the mining pool configuration is correct.
Ⅱ. Observe the ETH port, indicator lights and Antminer operating status
Determine Hydro failure by observing the ETH port, indicator light, PSU and Antminer status.
Hydro's operation status | Failure causes | Solutions |
ETH port light Normal light extinguish Fault light extinguish | 1. Unable to obtain IP | The control board is faulty, it needs to be replaced. |
2. No data on the backend | Try Restart-Reset-Flash firmware-Restart in sequence, if it cannot start normally, the control board is faulty and needs to be replaced.
ANTMINER can't operate | 1. PSU or voltage is unstable | Unplug - Plug the power cord, if it drops again, replace the PSU. |
2. The control board power cord is not plugged in tightly | Plug in the control board power cord tightly.
3. ANTMINER is not powered on | The control board is damaged.
4. PSU is too cold | Put the PSU in a warm environment to preheat.
PSU and ANTMINER can't operate | 1. PSU failure | Replace the PSU. |
2. PSU overheating | Cool down the PSU and restart.
3. The power supply copper row screws are loose. | Tighten the power supply copper row screws.
ANTMINER is at low hashrate | 1. Hashboard chip is damaged | Check whether the power cord of the hash board is plugged in tightly, and restart. |
2. Insufficient power consumption of the PSU | Missing hashboards or hashrate is 0, need to replace the PSU, restart.
3. Hashboard hardware with a high errors rate | Restart, if it cannot operate normally, hash board is damaged.
4. Missing hashboards | Restart, if it cannot operate normally, hash board is damaged.
5. Cable damage | Replace the cable. |
Ⅲ. View the Antminer backend user panel interface
The above is to judge Antminer's fault from the outside, and then visually inspect it from the background. Figure 1-1 below shows that the hash rate of hash board 2 is 0, and Figure 1-2 shows that the hashboard 3 is abnormally high temperature.
Figure 1-1 The hash rate of the hash board 2 is zero
Figure 1-2 The hash board 3 is abnormally high temperature
Ⅳ. View the Antminer background kernel log
If there is no data in the Antminer background or the fault cannot be determined, you need to check the background kernel log. Open the background and click on the kernel log to view detailed operation logs. The following are common log failures and solutions:
Kernel log: records various stages of Antminer operation and can help solve some common problems.
Note*: The following failure symptoms are only for ANTMINER reference only.
Fault 1: Unable to connect to the Internet.
Solution: Check the network cable, replace the network cable, check the switch, and check the network connection status.
Fault 2: Server temperature is too high
Solution: Check whether the interface valve is open and whether the water temperature is normal.
Fault 3: Power supply failure
Solution: Plug and unplug the PSU cable, upgrade the firmware, replace the PSU, check whether the power copper strip screws are tightened, or repair it.
Fault 4: Antminer hash board 4 is missing
Solution: Restart, power off, check if the cable is loose. If it is still abnormal, fix it.
Fault 5: Cannot find hash board
Solution: Restart, power off, check whether the cable is loose, whether the power copper screw is tightened, restore factory settings, upgrade the latest firmware or repair.
Fault 6: Chip test abnormal
Solution: Restart, flash with SD card, if it still doesn’t work properly, repair.
Fault 7: Missing chips
Solution: Restart, flashing with SD card, if still abnormal, repair.
Fault 8: Voltage error, initialization failed
Solution: Restart, plug and unplug the cable, flashing with SD card, and configure the mining pool in the background.
