How to solve the Antminer S19 XP EEPROM read failure issue?

The EEPROM erasable programmable read-only memory of Antminer s19 XP is mainly used to store data files. The hash board needs to have normal unified data so that miners can mine. If the EEPROM data fails to read, it may cause symptoms such as loss of configuration parameters and device stopping mining. This article explains the failure of s19 XP eeprom file reading and how to deal with it.

I. Fault issue

The kernel log shows that the EEPROM files of all three hash boards have failed to be read, and the power supply will shut down the hashboards.

II. Solutions:

1. It is recommended to first use the Antminer hash board code editor to read the EEPROM chip data from a normally functioning hashboard, and then rewrite the EEPROM files for the three faulty hash boards.

• Reading: Please disconnect the miner power before operation (no need to power the hash board); click the editor "NF" button to enter the function menu; insert the data cable to the normal hashboard, select “eerpom setting” and click "OK"; then select “read eerpom” and confirm, enter the model to be marked and save the data; the device will return to the initial interface.

• Writing: Click the "NF" button to enter the function menu; insert the data cable into the hash board with the issue; select “EEPROM settings” and click "OK", then select “open EEPROM”; locate the saved data file and confirm, the device will return to the initial interface, then click "OK" to write the data to the hashboard.

2. If rewriting the EEPROM file does not fix the issue, it may be due to a chip failure or poor soldering. It is recommended to re-solder or replace the AT24C02C EEPROM chip, and then use the editor to rewrite the file. The image below shows the S19 XP hash board, where U6 is the EEPROM (Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) chip, which needs to be replaced and reprogrammed using the code editor.

replace S19 XP eeprom chip

Heat the faulty eeprom chip on the heating table and carefully remove it; clean and then solder the chip, aligning the pins with the pads, apply an appropriate amount of flux, and heat the solder paste to perfectly cover the pins, ensuring no poor soldering.

Resolving EEPROM data read issues helps restore configuration parameters for the S19 XP miner, maintaining stable mining efficiency.
