Iceriver KS3M miner upgrade water cooling tutorial

Iceriver KS3M water cooling kit is used to upgrade air-cooled miners to a water-cooled system. Liquid cooling can effectively reduce the miner's operating temperature and noise, extending its service life.

When the Iceriver KS3M miner is under high load for a long time, the cooling effect of the fan cannot meet its mining needs, which will cause the miner to overheat and damage internal components. In addition, the fan's cooling efficiency is also affected by the ambient temperature. Upgrading the KS3M miner from air cooling to water cooling can perfectly solve these problems.

Iceriver KS3M upgrade water cooling system steps

1. Take out the 3 hash boards and place them on the anti-static insulating mat.

2. Remove the heat sink on the front of the hash board. Then, moisten the cleaning cloth with circuit board cleaner, and carefully wipe off the thermal grease and dust on the hash board and heat sink.

3. After cleaning, apply new thermal grease evenly on the surface of each ASIC chip.

4. After re-printing the thermal grease, align the water-cooling plate with the corresponding screw holes on the hash board, and fix it with screws.

5. Put the three hash boards with water-cooling boards back into the miner box. Then plug the fan simulator into the fan interface on the control board, which can replace the original cooling fan. Then connect the cables and tighten the screws on the conductive copper pieces.

6. Screw the water separator to the fan cover plate and install the cover plate to the miner's original air inlet. Insert the quick connector into the water pipe, then use multiple water pipes to connect the water cooling plate and the water separator.

7. Connect the water pipe from the water pump outlet of the radiator to the upper water divider. Use another water pipe to connect the radiator water inlet to the lower splitter. And use quick connectors to fix water pipes to avoid water leakage.

8. Before the first operation, fill the radiator water pump with full coolant. Turn on the power to start the miner and cooling device. At this time, the water level will drop, and we need to continue to add coolant until it no longer drops (the highest water level is about 10cm away from the top of the water pump).

When the Iceriver KS3M air-cooled is converted to a water-cooled miner, the cooling efficiency will be greatly improved and will not be easily affected by the ambient temperature. At the same time, the miner's operating noise will be significantly reduced, providing a cool, quiet, and stable operating environment.
