When a damaged KS3M and KS3L ASIC chip needs to be replaced, installing a new or second-hand chip directly is not an option. Instead, the chip must undergo a tinning process before replacement. Without tinning the chip's pins beforehand, the chip may not make sufficient contact with the solder pads, resulting in poor soldering.
The IceRiver chip tinning tool is specifically designed for tinning and replacing KS3M and KS3L chips, suitable for P37P57 and P2SG48 chip. Made of high-temperature resistant composite material, it is more durable than standard alloy materials and boasts features like high temperature resistance, wear resistance, and long service life. The steel mesh attached to the tinning tool is made of quality material, accurately positioning the holes of the ASIC chip to ensure uniform and precise tinning. It also effectively prevents the generation of electric charges during chip replacement, and the steel mesh does not deform over time.
Refer to the following steps to quickly tin the KS3M KS3L chip:
1. Place the base and template of the tin tool on the workbench. (The tin tool consists of a base and a tin steel mesh)
2. Place the new chip face up on the base. (If it's a second-hand chip, first use a cleaning tool to remove dirt, grease, and oxides from the chip's surface to ensure a clean and impurity-free surface. Then, use a soldering iron to flatten the chip's pins. If the pins are not full enough, tin paste can be applied. After completion, use tweezers to clamp the chip and place it upside down on the base.)
3. Align the holes on the steel mesh with the chip's pins and place it on the base.
4. Use a scraper to evenly apply solder paste to the holes on the steel mesh. The solder paste is pressed through the holes by the scraper's pressure and applied to the chip's pins.
5. Remove the steel mesh from the base and use tweezers to take out the chip from the base.
6. Clamp the edge of the chip with tweezers and use a hot air gun to heat the chip's pins, melting the solder paste to complete the tinning. Note that the melting time only needs a few seconds, prolonged exposure can damage the chip.
The IceRiver chip tinning tool is one of the essential tools for repairing IceRiver KS3M and KS3L hash board ASIC chips. It allows the solder paste to perfectly wrap the chip pins to ensure solder connections, allowing for more efficient and time-saving repairs.
