How to replace BM1362BD ASIC chip for Antminer S19j Pro+?

2024/6/11

The BM1362BD chip is designed to replace the faulty ASIC chip on Antminer S19j PRO+ hash board. With its excellent computing power and stability, it can effectively restore the hashing performance of the miner, ensuring its continuous operation for cryptocurrency mining in an efficient and stable state.

If a single hash board displays 0 hash rate or below the standard hash rate, and the failure rate increases significantly, this may be caused by the aging or wear of the ASIC chip. In this case, it is necessary to immediately replace a new one to ensure the normal operation of the miner and maintain the miner's income.

The specific replacing steps for S19j PRO+ miner BM1362BD ASIC chip are as follows:

1. Locate the faulty chip

● Remove the protective cover plate on top of the miner, unscrew the fixed screws of the conductive copper sheet and the outlet fan to take them off, disconnect the cables, take out the hash board to place it on an insulating pad.

● Use the Antminer chip test fixture to accurately locate the faulty chip.

2. Disassemble the heatsink of the hash board

● Use a hot air gun (around 450℃) and tweezers to remove the small heatsink on the back of the hash board corresponding to the faulty chip.

● Remove the other heatsink on the front side in the same way.

● Clean the thermal grease and dust on the surface of the hash board.

3. Remove the faulty chip

● Apply an appropriate amount of no-rinse flux around the pins of the faulty chip.

● Set the temperature of the hot air gun to around 400℃, with the wind speed at the second gear. Heat it 5cm above the faulty chip. Once the solder is completely melted, use a tweezers to carefully remove it.

4. Cool and clean of the hash board

● Use a cooling fan to quickly cool the hash board.

● Then use lead-free board washing water to carefully clean the solder residue on the hash board, ensuring a clean surface.

5. Tinning and soldering of the new chip

● Use a chip tin tool to evenly tin the new BM1362BD ASIC chip.

● Align the tinned chip pins with the solder pads on the hash board, then add an appropriate amount of flux.

● Heat it with hot air gun until the solder completely covers the chip pins. Press the chip gently with a tweezers for a few seconds to ensure stability.

● Cool and clean the hash board.

6. Chip inspection

● Use a multimeter to check the grounding value of the chip signal to ensure good soldering.

● Then use the hash board test fixture to test the single board to ensure successful chip replacement.

7. Assembly and test

● Use a hot air gun to heat the heatsink (the side contact to chip) to melt the tin, install it on the surface of the chip, then press it with a tweezers and continue heating for about 10 seconds. Wait for a few seconds until the tin solidifies. Install the heatsink on the back of the hash board with the same method.

● Place the hash board back into the miner case, reinstall the conductive copper sheet and cooling fan that were removed earlier. Connect all cables.

● Power on the entire machine to check if its performance meets expectations.

As the core component of the miner, the performance of the ASIC chip directly determines the overall hash rate level and stability of the machine. Therefore, timely replacement of damaged ASIC chips ensures that the miner maintains efficient hash rate output, thus maintaining a competitive advantage in cryptocurrency mining.
