Antminer BM1362AK ASIC chip replacement instructions

2024/6/28

The BM1362AK ASIC chip belongs to the BM1362 series and is suitable for hash board chip replacement of Bitmain Antminer S19j, S19j pro, and S19pro+ hydro (HHB42631). When the hash rate of these ASIC miners drops to 0, it is possible that the chip has failed and cannot maintain normal operation. We need to replace the BM1362AK chip to quickly restore the normal working condition of the hash board, restore the stable performance of the miner, and continue mining.

BM1362AK for Antminer S19j replace

This chip is applicable to both PCB version hash boards and aluminum version hash boards of Antminer miner models. We will write the detailed steps for replacing the chip on the PCB board type:

I. Desoldering the faulty ASIC chip

• Disassemble the miner and take out the hash board to find the damaged ASIC chip.

• Remove the small heat sinks corresponding to the front and back of the faulty ASIC chip and clean the chip. Clean the Antminer hash board chip BM1362AK.

• Apply flux around the pins of the faulty chip, turn on the hot air gun, adjust it to around 400°C, and heat the nozzle to the chip until the solder on the solder pad melts.

• Use a stainless steel tweezer to clamp the BM1362AK chip and remove the faulty chip after the solder on the solder pad melts.

• Use a circuit board cleaner to carefully clean the original faulty chip position and use a fan to cool the hash board.

II. Soldering the new BM1362AK chip

• Tin the new chip, place it in a tinning tool, and evenly apply tin to the back of the chip. Align the chip pins with the solder pads, add flux, and use a hot air gun to heat the solder to melting.

• After the chip soldering is completed, wait for the hash board to cool down, then use a cleaner to clean the hash board and clean residual solder slag.

• After installation, the hash board needs to be tested with a test fixture. If the test result is OK, the replacement is successful.

• Print thermal grease on the surface of the newly replaced chip and install small heat sinks. If conditions permit, a thermal grease printing mold can be used.

• Install the hash board back into the miner, assemble the other removed hardware, turn on the miner's power, and test if the hash rate has returned to normal.

Note: If it is an aluminum-based hash board, some steps will be different, for example, the PCB board is a small heat sink, and the aluminum-based board is a large heat sink. When replacing the chip on the aluminum hash board, the large heat sink needs to be removed, and there are usually 2-3 large heat sinks on one side; in addition, it needs a heating platform (preheated to about 300°C) instead of a hot air gun for desoldering and soldering chips.

BM1362AK ASIC chip

The ASIC chip is the core of the Antminer hash board. Once any abnormality occurs, it must be replaced promptly. By effectively replacing the BM1362AK chip according to the above steps, the miner can be restored to normal operation.
