The MP1517DR boost converter chip is compatible with hash boards of various miner models such as Antminer S21, T21, S19j pro, Iceriver KS3M, KS3L, etc. It is a 3A fixed-frequency boost converter with a 4A peak current limit, a low 700mV feedback threshold, an internal 150mΩ power switch, and an input range of 2.6V to 25V. It is suitable for medium to high-current boost, flyback, and SEPIC applications. This chip can regulate the output voltage up to 25V with an efficiency of up to 95%. Features like soft-start, cycle-by-cycle current limiting, and input under-voltage lockout prevent overloading or damage to sensitive external circuits during startup and output short circuits. The current-mode regulation and external compensation components enable the MP1517DR control loop to be optimized under various input, output, and load current conditions.
Failure of the boost converter chip can lead to unstable or excessive voltage in miners, resulting in decreased performance and compromised system stability.
How to replace the MP1517DR boost converter chip?
1. Power off the miner, disassemble the miner's exhaust fan and outer casing, remove the hash board, then place it on an insulated work mat. Use a fan to cool the hash board. Locate the damaged boost converter chip and clean the area around the faulty chip.
2. Apply flux around the pins of the faulty chip. Adjust the heat gun to 2 gear, approximately 400°C, and heat the chip until the solder on the pads melts.
3. Once the solder on the pads has melted, use stainless steel tweezers to remove the faulty chip.
4. Remove any solder residue from the location of the original faulty chip and allow the hash board to cool down.
5. Tin the new MP1517DR boost converter chip. Align the chip's pins with the pads, apply flux, then adjust the heat gun back to the previous desoldering temperature. Heat the solder until it melts.
6. After the chip is successfully soldered and the hash board has cooled down, use a cleaning agent to clean the hash board and remove any remaining solder residue.
7. Once installation is complete, reinstall the hash board into the miner, turn on the miner's power, then test to ensure the boost converter chip has resumed normal operation.
During daily maintenance and operation of miners, closely monitor the working status of the boost converter chip, promptly identify and address potential faults, then replace faulty MP1517DR boost converter chips in a timely manner to ensure stable and efficient miner operation.
