The MPLAB PICkit4 in-circuit debugger/programmer uses the powerful graphical user interface of MPLAB X Integrated Development Environment (IDE) version 4.15 for fast and easy debugging and programming of PIC and dsPIC flash microcontrollers. MPLAB PICkit 4 uses a high-speed 2.0 USB interface to connect to the designer’s computer and can be connected to the target through an 8-pin single in-line (SIL) connector. This connector uses two device I/O pins and reset lines to implement in-circuit debugging and in-circuit serial programming (ICSP). There is also a micro SD card slot, which can automatically supply power from the target machine, which means you can carry your own code with you and program it at any time.

MPLAB PICkit 4 programming is faster than its predecessor and is ready to support PIC and dsPICMCU devices. In addition to a wider target voltage, PICkit 4 also supports advanced interfaces, such as 4-wire JTAG and serial wire debugging with streaming data gateway, as well as the use of 2-wire JTAG and ICSP for backward compatibility with demo boards, headers and target systems. PICkit 4 also has a unique programmer-and-go function, and adds a micro SD card slot for saving project code and powered by the target board.
