Bhutanese investment arm Druk Holding & Investments (DHI) is reportedly interested in crypto-asset ventures and businesses, and has been experimenting with investments related to bitcoin mining and drone technology. DHI CEO Ujjwal Deep Dahal was quoted as saying that Bhutan is "focusing on the new generation industry".
Dahal said: "Partnering with Bitdeer to launch a zero-carbon digital asset mining data center is an investment in a more connected and sustainable domestic economy and helps ensure that we are at the forefront of global innovation." Hashrate Index executive Jaran Mellerud said Bhutan has the potential to become “the biggest bitcoin miner per capital in the world.” Furthermore, while the crypto bear market in 2022 was brutal for Bitcoin miners, Dahal believes that the crypto mining industry is less risky: “Our main focus is the crypto mining business, which seems to be the least risky vertical industry. "
