Tech giant Samsung has reportedly said it is currently developing a new 3-nanometer mining chip that will be 45 percent more energy efficient. The new chip is estimated to have improved performance by 23 percent and is expected to reduce the mining industry's carbon emissions significantly. One of the first mining hardware produced in 2013, the Antminer S1, had a 55nm chip. The best miner currently on the market is the Antminer S19X, with a 5nm chip produced in 2022. Samsung revealed its entry into the mining space in 2019 when it announced it would start designing and manufacturing mining chips.
