Nearly 60 cryptocurrency and blockchain companies have reportedly registered offices in El Salvador since it adopted bitcoin as legal tender, although the country’s current rate of bitcoin adoption remains low. In June 2021, El Salvador approved Bitcoin as the country’s legal tender, which came into effect in September of the same year.
