Buyers reportedly used bitcoin to buy the 40.2-meter Benetti superyacht Oryx. The sale pioneered one of the first recorded yacht brokerage transactions in cryptocurrency. The transaction was facilitated by bitcoin payment service provider Bitpay, with Hans Van Doornmalen and Simon Goldsworthy of Edmiston & Company representing the seller and Juan Andrade of SuperYachtsMonaco introducing the buyer. Designed by Stefano Righini, the Oryx is built from GRP by Italian superyacht shipyard Benetti to ABS grade and delivered in 2013 as one of the shipyard's acclaimed Classic Supreme series. Oryx is asking for €9,900,000.
