The Fort Worth, Texas, the city council has reportedly approved bitcoin mining and will use three ASIC Bitmain Antminer S9 donated by the Texas Blockchain Council. The rigs have a maximum hash rate of 13.5 TH/s and will operate on a private network in the City Hall climate-controlled data center. Today, the council voted unanimously to pass a resolution to accept miners from nonprofits, making Forth Worth the first city in the United States to mine its bitcoin. A spokesman for the mayor’s office said the NYDIG would hold the city’s bitcoins.
