The Honduran tourist town of Saint Lucia has reportedly established a local Bitcoin hub. The private project, called "Bitcoin Valley," aims to create a bitcoin circular economy and increase the number of tourists in the region by promoting bitcoin in local stores. The project, officially launched on Thursday, was jointly launched by Honduras Blockchain Organization, Guatemalan cryptocurrency exchange Coincaex, the Honduras Polytechnic University, and the Municipality of St. Lucia. About 60 stores will participate in the project. Coincaex will provide merchants with the necessary equipment to accept Bitcoin payments. In addition, the program also plans to popularize bitcoin and cryptocurrency education locally, with local students and entrepreneurs having the opportunity to participate in bitcoin courses lasting more than a month.
