CME Group (CME) reportedly plans to expand its cryptocurrency derivatives offerings further, launching euro-denominated bitcoin and Ethereum futures on August 29, pending regulatory scrutiny. To match a dollar-denominated counterparty, the size of the Bitcoin EUR and Ethereum EUR futures contracts will be 5 Bitcoin and 50 ETH per contract. In addition, these new contracts will be cash-settled based on the CME CF Bitcoin-Euro Reference Rate and the CME CF Ethereum-Euro Reference Rate, which serve as EUR-denominated once-daily reference rates for Bitcoin and Ethereum, and these new futures contracts will be CME Group is listed and governed by its rules.
