The Brazilian city of Porto Alegre has reportedly passed a law to include Bitcoin Pizza Day on the municipal calendar. It is reported that Laszlo Hanyecz, a programmer in Florida, USA, used 10,000 bitcoins to "buy" two pizzas from a bitcoin enthusiast on May 22, 2010, recognized as the first commercial bitcoin transaction. And Laszlo Hanyecz said in an interview on Bitcoin Pizza Day that he spends more Bitcoin on pizza than previously reported. Hanyecz estimates that he mined about 100,000 BTC, about half of which was used to buy pizza.
