According to Fidelity Digital Assets' fourth annual Institutional Investor Digital Asset Study, released Thursday, Fidelity found that 58 percent of investors surveyed said they owned digital assets in the first half of 2022, up six percentage points year-over-year. Digital asset ownership is highest in Asia, with 69% of regional institutions reporting investments in the sector. The figures are lower in Europe (69%) and the US (42%), although those figures are up 11 and 9 percentage points, respectively, from a year ago. Overall, the highest usage of digital assets globally is found by venture capital funds (87%), followed by high-net-worth individuals (82%) and advisors (73%). Additionally, 35% of those surveyed said they buy investment products that hold cryptocurrencies, 30% buy investment products that hold digital asset companies, and 20% gain exposure through futures contracts.
