Bitcoin mining company Riot Platforms ordered the first batch of 33,280 MicroBT miners for about $163 million to establish its domestic supply chain. That's $21.50 per terahash (TH). Riot has the option to purchase an additional 66,560 machines for the same price through the end of 2024. The purchased MicroBT machines, which will be produced at a new facility in Pittsburgh, will be used at Riot's Corsicana facility in Navarro County, Texas.
Deliveries of 33,280 machines are expected to begin in December and will be deployed in the first quarter of next year. These machines will boost Riot’s hash rate to 20.1 EH/s. If Riot chooses to purchase an additional 66,560 MicroBT machines, their capacity is estimated to be 35.4 EH/s.
