Several counties in Arkansas are speeding through legislation that would allow them to rein in noise and other activities related to cryptocurrency mining before the Aug. 1 new state law goes into effect to address a growing number of local complaints. The new state law brings crypto mining facilities under the same regulations that apply to data centers, sets guidelines for miners, and protects them from discriminatory regulations and taxes. Crypto mining companies in Arkansas include Green Digital, GMI Computing, United BitEngine, and Cryptic Farms. No one opposed the bill in committee or in the legislative session, according to state Rep. Rick McClure, who authored the bill.
