Agence France-Presse quoted reports from local Iranian media saying that many places in Iran have begun to take alternate power outages, and there have been unwarned power outages before, causing public grievances. According to Iranian officials, the main reason for the power shortage is that hot weather and drought have reduced hydroelectric power generation and that cryptocurrency mining consumes too much electricity.
